Monday Morning QB...

Three weeks down and the Big Ten is still on fire. Well, most of it anyway. Six teams, best in 1-A ball mind you - are unbeaten in the Big Ten. Not bad for a conference that the pundits annually place behind the SEC and even ACC and Big Twelve in terms of talent and depth. Michigan anihilated Notre Dame in South Bend. Michigan State man-handled Pitt on the road. OSU and Wisconsin breezed to their third wins. Iowa and Purdue had a tougher go but go there. It's good to be in the Big Ten

Well, it's good except for Indiana, who became the second conference member to lose to a 1-AA team (Southern Illinois). And then there is Illinois. This might have been the last good chance for the Illini to get a win. Northwestern struggled again and believe me, this isn't about the loss of Coach Walker. This team is just a hair above Juco when the offense (except Sutton) takes the field.

Minneosta and Penn State rebounded and give the Big Ten eight teams with a legitimate shot at a bowl game this holiday season. Yep, the Big Ten is looking good. Michigan State has a chance to make it 2-1 against Notre Dame and the conference race officially gets underway. Tighten the chin straps, this is going to be a wild ride.

Team of the Week...

Nothing more needs to be said than, Michigan.

Player of the Week...

So many to choose from, only one POTW award to hand out. I'm going to give mine to the Michigan defense. They set the tone early in a shockingly easy win at Notre Dame and served notice to the country that last year was a fluke...

Northwestern 14 @ Nevada 35 - And, unfortunately, you're right Andy about the NU offense. Coaching changes are part of the problem though - especially the fact that those same coaches won't let our option QBs actually throw the ball more than 5 yards. Than again, they may not be letting them throw for good reason. The offense may be revived if and when Bacher gets healthy. For now, it's on life support.

Iowa 24 @ Illinois 3 - Looking forward to the Illinois-NU game this year. Woof.

Minnesota 27 @ Purdue 17 - Haven't seen either of them yet. I got married why?

Wisconsin 10 @ Michigan 24 - The Badgers don't have the horses to keep up with the Wolverines.

Connecticut 21 @ Indiana 28 - A winnable game for UConn, but unlikely.

Penn State 17 @ Ohio State 21 - Probably not this close.

Notre Dame 24 @ Michigan State 21 - Picking with my head instead of my heart here. Go Green!
